Comprehensive municipal assessment (CMA) plans and consultations
SCC can help your community develop a comprehensive municipal assessment, listing municipal priorities in order to access various funding sources.
A municipal plan is the first step of requirements that would allow the municipality to qualify for various funding sources. This plan can be done for most municipal areas or tailored for a specific sector:
SCC takes a systems-based approach to municipal planning by identifying the least cost portfolio of proven technologies for municipal applications. A prudent process includes a comprehensive assessment of current operational functions and areas needing improvement in all or specific municipal sectors, a plan that identifies various (if applicable) solutions for each sector along with a high-level analysis of funding options for identified projects. |
Project and concept development
From project identification, to project implementation, SCC can help you get your project off the ground. We will work with you to identify the right partners for every step of the way, while making sure you find success.
Projects can include pilot projects, research projects or full-scale infrastructure implementation. Identifying funding options and grant writing In addition to being able to assist with actual grant or proposal writing, we are able to assist you with building your investment case by identifying potential investment partners and different funding options you may not have thought about. We also have extensive experience with government relations at all levels and can assist you with building the business case in order to assure your project succeeds. |
Municipal asset investment planning
SCC offers high performance environmental systems analysis, design, optimization and investment planning in:
SCC can also offer municipal asset mapping. See GIS services for more info. |
Engineering and feasibility studies
In collaboration with select engineering partners, SCC can offer you a full engineering studies and reports.
These reports will look at various technological options and recommendations will be based on the identifying the best solution for each individual situation, taking into account financial viability and return on investment, state-of-the-art technology and potential for circular economy integration of municipal operations. With SCC feasibility studies, you will be able to assess the technical and financial feasibility of your innovative infrastructure project or proposed solution. We always take into account the environmental, social and economic impacts of your potential project and will help you determine its most optimal return-on-investment (ROI). Studies can be done in any of our focus areas. |
Municipal strategic development
SCC team members have extensive experience in strategic planning, board governance, leadership development, event planning and strategic communications.
One or all of these services can help get your community get off the ground:
|
Municipal technology research and development
SCC values academic research and the scientific method in demonstrating the various integrated benefits of innovative technologies that can be used for municipal applications. SCC currently works in the areas of:
SCC is also collaborating with various stakeholders on an AI-enabled precision infrastructure design and investment planning concept using advanced hydrographic analysis and network design principles to identify candidate multifunctional storage (MFS) reservoir sites on the Canadian Prairies for modulating climate change impacts (floods and droughts). High resolution LiDAR-based digital elevation models are essential for identifying potential MFS sites, hydrographic networks and network cost structure. The application of AI to LiDAR classification is a major commercial R&D area and will be applied to SCC hydrological systems design projects. |
Climate resilience and risk management
SCC believes that future climate projections need to be taken into account for all aspects of municipal operations. An SCC climate risk assessment can help you and your community make informed decisions on essential infrastructure investments.
Wikipedia: Climate risk management is a generic term referring to an approach to climate-sensitive decision making. The approach seeks to promote sustainable development by reducing the vulnerability associated with climate risk. CRM involves strategies aimed at maximizing positive and minimizing negative outcomes for communities in fields such as agriculture, food security, water resources, and health.[1] Climate risk management covers a broad range of potential actions, including: early-response systems, strategic diversification, dynamic resource-allocation rules, financial instruments, infrastructure design and capacity building. But in addition to avoiding adverse outcomes, a climate risk management strategy also aims to maximize opportunities in climate- sensitive economic sectors--for example, farmers who use favorable seasonal forecasts to maximize their crop productivity.[2] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_risk_management |
