Research & Development
SCC is pursuing R&D with an artificial intelligence/high performance computing company and with academic collaborators to maintain is leading-edge position.
SCC is collaborating with various stakeholders on an AI-enabled precision infrastructure design and investment planning concept using advanced hydrographic analysis and network design principles to identify candidate multifunctional storage (MFS) reservoir sites on the Canadian Prairies for modulating climate change impacts (floods and droughts). High resolution LiDAR-based digital elevation models are essential for identifying potential MFS sites, hydrographic networks and network cost structure. The application of AI to LiDAR classification is a major commercial R&D area and will be applied to SCC hydrological systems design projects.
